Opium increase has increased drastically over the years in Afghanistan. In the use of Opium and the crop growth. Up to today the increase is largely high. Opium is starting to become mostly like a trend in Kabul. In the poorest city almost anyone you may bump into may be using the substance. Especially because Opium is mostly inexpensive to afford. Most clinics that help in rehab are only allowed to give out Methadone as a substitute for Heroine. In the video one of the helpers in the clinic admits not everyone is cured by the time their date expires at the clinic. This needs to be brought to the top and help take care of the kids. Small children being on Opium is not part of being a child. This could get worse than it is now if its isn't being treated with immediate attention.

The United Nations has seen the number of increase in Opium users in Afghanistan. It can go from Grandparent Addicts, Aunt and Uncle Addicts, and the number one is Parent Addicts. When all of them are addicts and children are around that influence on every day basis chances are those kids will have Opium passed on. http://www.cnn.com/2012/09/20/world/asia/afghan-opium-addict-family/ In this story listed in the link, it involves the whole family addicted to opium. The mother's name is Masoma. Her brother, sister, mother and herself used Opium after loosing the death of Mosama's younger brother after her husband died. For her and her family to forget the sorrow and pain, her family and herself abused Opium to give her "comfort and keep them calm".

Those were common purposes of the abuse of Opium. Now lets go into further detail about extra abuses for the use of it. Another part of the poor people in Afghanistan that barely have money to even buy food. To feed 9 members in their family, be poor, no money for food, hungry family; they use Opium as a solution. Opium seems to be easier to afford and helps their problem from starving and storing food longer. One family was being interviewed, this is the family with 9 members. They have barely any money. The small amount of money they did have they used a 1 foot piece of bread and to feed 9 in a week. The mom said they all are hungry but to store food longer and eat tiny bits of the bread they use Opium to ease the hunger pain. Opium takes the pain away and makes them feel full so they went ahead and gave it to their kids.

Now that we have read information about the capital in Afghanistan, now lets concentrate on the poorest side of Afghanistan. Many parents gave opium to their kids purposely reasoning for war conflicts. If their kids were in pain or lost a limb they would also give them opium to ease the pain. Also the main reason was due to lack of money of expenses of medication. Medication was too expensive for them to afford to have. They said they feel guilty what they did and how early it was being given to them but they didn't want to see them die or suffer. Their only solution was giving them Opium. If they dont get Opium when the kids want it they go through a stage of withdrawal that leaves them crying, cranky, angry, grumpy, and desperation in need of Opium. a normal toddler would cry or be cranky for either not being fed, not having its diaper changed, or lack of sleep. But these children are not crying for normal reasons. They are crying for Opium.

Many young children started smoking Opium or Heroine mainly handed by the hands of their parents. The youngest age interviewed started at just 1 year and 1/2 old. Most common age start is age 3. These kids receive this from their parents because of difficult war conflicts that were due to loosing a limb or any kind of injury and were given that drug to cure the pain and numb it. They claimed to say there were no doctors in the area or not have enough money to pay for medication. This is based on the capital of Afghanistan.
